WEST AFRICAN INDIGO DYEINGMaryland State Arts Council
Through a Folklife Apprenticeship made possible through the Maryland State Arts Council, mentor artist Kibibi Ajanku spends a year teaching her practice, West African indigo dyeing, to her son and apprentice artist Jumoke Ajanku.
While diving into the meaning and history of indigo, Kibibi demonstrates the power of this art practice at work in the Baltimore City community.
This short documentary helps amplify Maryland Traditions, a traditional arts program which identifies, documents, and presents traditional arts across the state of Maryland.
